Danger and violence ARE parts of life. Security IS an illusion.
But when we’re faced with dropping off our five-year-old for the first time today following the tragedy this past Friday, we don’t give a crap about those facts. We’re parents. Our children are our EVERYTHING.
We DEMAND some assurances that our children will be safe when we lead them through the doors of their schools. Armed guards; perimeter fence; whatever it takes so that they can come home to us, alive.
Our kids’ safety is non-negotiable.
